Instructions for how to setup your Ranheat boiler’s 2 remote access interfaces on 3 different platforms
We offer RanheatIO, a comprehensive remote access, monitoring, support and control service for Ranheat boiler and burner systems. This allows you to monitor your boiler’s temperatures, silo fill levels, any operating alarms, all from the comfort of your office. You can operate your boiler remotely, though we do recommend you have a colleague on site to keep an eye on it. Ranheat also offers remote support, system tuning and troubleshooting via RanheatIO. It is also retro-compatible with older Ranheat systems as an add-on kit, installed in your control panel.
Once your Ranheat boiler or burner system is installed, we will be in touch to set up RanheatIO remote access. By email, we will provide an IP address and VPN certificates needed to access the web interface and HMI for your Ranheat boiler/furnace system. We typically generate enough for 10 devices; please contact us if you require more.
These are the setup steps for iOS, Android and Windows, respectively:
To access Ranheat monitoring services, please install the OpenVPN Connect iOS App
To get the VPN cert onto iPhones, it is easiest to forward this email to your iPhone, then open the attachment via OpenVPN-Connect app, and then select the option to “Connect with .ovpn file”. You may also transfer .ovpn files via iTunes to the OpenVPN-Connect app (see also Apple’s article “Use iTunes to share files between your computer and your iPhone or iPad” and the OpenVPN Connect documentation).
Please select OpenVPN Profile in the OpenVPN app:
To access the web monitoring interface, open your browser and visit/bookmark the web address you will be provided with, which will be something like: http://10.93.12.34:1880/ui
To access the HMI via VNC “remote desktop” protocol, please install the Mocha VNC Lite iOS app.
Then add a connection to mocha-vnc-lite with the IP address set to 10.93.12.34
then disable iOS password and add the password provided.
To access Ranheat monitoring services, please install the OpenVPN Connect Android app.
Then again open the OpenVPN Connect app and “Connect with .ovpn file”. You can get the ovpn file by getting it into your Downloads folder via email or USB transfer.
To access the web monitoring interface, open your browser and visit/bookmark the web address you will be provided with, which will be something like: http://10.93.12.34:1880/ui
To access the HMI via VNC “remote desktop” protocol, please install the freebVNC Android app.
Then add a connection to freebVNC, or your VNC viewer of choice, with the IP address set to the provided IP address (similar to 10.93.12.34
) then add the password provided.
To access Ranheat monitoring services, please install the OpenVPN client from https://openvpn.net/community-downloads/ (if there are any issues, we use and recommend v2.5.9)
Right-click on the OpenVPN tray menu icon >> Import >> Import from file, and select one of the downloaded .ovpn files.
To access the web monitoring interface, open your browser and visit/bookmark the web address you will be provided with, which will be something like: http://10.93.12.34:1880/ui
To access the HMI via VNC “remote desktop” protocol, please install the UltraVNC program. Note that just the VNC client is required; please use an ad blocker such as uBlock Origin when visiting external websites.
Other VNC clients might work.
Then Right-click >> New >> Shortcut, with the following as the target location, swapping in your provided IP address and password:
"C:\Program Files\uvnc bvba\UltraVNC\vncviewer.exe" -connect 10.93.12.34 -password "your-provided-password" -autoscaling
Double-click this shortcut to launch the HMI remote desktop via the VNC connection.
The HMI remote connection offers more remote control features than the web interface remote connection; for it to respond to remote control, you must first double-click the black bar at the bottom of the screen that says “Operating authority can be obtained”.
And that’s all there is to it. If there are any firewall issues, please get us in touch with your IT department or service provider and we will liaise with them to finalise the setup. Many thanks for using Ranheat services. Please don’t hesitate to contact us in case of any issues.
