Built to Last: Why Ranheat Biomass Boilers Are Built Like Diesel Engines

By Alexander Franklin – Director, Ranheat Engineering Ltd

Ranheat systems are to biomass heating what diesel engines are to lorries—built to run hard, last long, and deliver consistent, industrial-grade performance.

On paper, many boilers offer 300kW. But when put to real industrial use—long hours, inconsistent fuel, heavy dust—the difference between a finely tuned “sports car” and a lorry engine becomes clear. That’s where Ranheat shines.

Engineered for Endurance

Just like diesel engines have oversized pistons and thick crankshafts, Ranheat biomass systems are built with:

  • Heavy-duty construction – Thick steel bodies and pressure vessels for thermal stability and strength.

  • Oversized combustion chambers – Prevents ash build-up and supports full fuel burn, even with challenging fuels like MDF or laminate.

  • Optimised radiant sections – Promotes even combustion, reduces wear, and supports low NOx with flue gas recirculation.

Ranheat boilers cope with variable wood moisture, dusty fuel, and man-made boards—exactly the sort of waste real factories generate.

Drop-In, Drop-Out: Designed for Serviceability

Ranheat shares another trait with good diesel engines: modular service.

  • Slide-in fire chambers can be swapped without full system disassembly, reducing downtime.

  • Standardised components make maintenance simpler and parts readily available.

  • Lifetime support – With a service contract, the warranty extends to 10 years, and Ranheat continues to support every system it has ever built.

Compare this with some boilers that require full rebuilds just to change critical parts.

Not All Power Is Equal

Other manufacturers may promise the same output, but often rely on lighter-duty internal designs.

  • Fine tolerances struggle with high ash content.

  • Tightly packed tubes foul more easily and require intensive cleaning.

  • Pellet-only optimised systems are not ideal for mixed workshop waste.

Ranheat boilers, by contrast, are built for the reality of factory floors—not pristine fuel specs.

Like a Lorry, Not a Supercar

A supercar and a diesel lorry might both produce 500 horsepower—but one lasts 10 years under load, and the other lasts 10 laps.

If your plant needs to:

  • Burn on-site wood waste

  • Handle varying fuel quality

  • Run long hours

  • Minimise downtime

Then you need something that’s over-engineered, not underbuilt.
